Top quality clover honey

from South Otago and Eastern Southland

The Southern South Island is renowned for producing the finest quality clover honey. Traditional pastoral farming using white clover as a high quality animal feed and its ability to fix nitrogen into the soil from air gives it an important role for farmers throughout the Otago and Southland region. The clover flower produces clear nectar which is converted by our bees into a smooth light honey with subtle tones which is loved by all.

Usage

Our natural/liquid honey is used by many as a sugar substitute for cooking, baking and drinks such as smoothies etc. As a truly pure food it is unbeatable as a natural sweetener. If this product granulates and goes hard, then gently heat it up (by resting the pail in hot water) till all the crystals are melted away and it will be good for many months to come. Why would you use an industrially manufactured white sugar when this honey is available?

Quality

Creaming our honey allows it to be used as a spread and means that the product will remain consistently spreadable for years. Over time most liquid honeys will slowly granulate and go hard in the container. Creaming honey allows for better consistency and for a more spreadable product.

Unprocessed

Our comb honey is the ultimate natural product strait from the hive. The bees have sealed the honey in its own network of fine wax cells and is ready to serve! This is a seasonal product so not always available.

Placement

Greenfield Honey is collected from hives placed in the vast South Otago and Eastern Southland landscape. The intensity of farming practices is low, the pastures are well cared for as are the animals on them. Our bees work in harmony with the seasons and are not shifted from their natural home area.
